[摘要] :
This course was designed to improve college and university student’s listening and speaking skills so as to develop their conversational strategies in a variety of professional business situations. However, the instructions used to guide students in the textbook couldn’t make students be aware of what to say and how to communicate (oral and writing) effectively for certain business environment. Truly speaking, most tasks were way too easy and simple to attract students’ attention. It turned out that students usually finished their speaking or writing practices quickly during the class. Therefore, it was about the idea that co-teacher and I would like to develop authentic materials suitable for students to use. This is an elective course for third and fourth grade students to take in one semester. 5-week co-teaching has been adopted for students’ discussion and making up their drafts for role plays. The survey has been used to understand their satisfaction toward authentic materials (97%) and co-teaching (96%). Students’ drafts were collected to analyze what they learn, and role playing performances were used to judge their conversational skills. We believe, by this way, students could have more opportunities to strengthen their critical thinking skills, discuss their ideas for finding/solving problems, and practice various types of conversations in order to improve their business English communicational techniques.
