About me--Saljing Tivug

 Personal background
My name is Chen Lin, and named Lydia in English. I come from the southernmost of Taiwan, and born in a Paiwan family. My father is an entertainer, and sometimes he will teach music in junior high school. My mother is a typical housemaker. Except for my brother, all my sisters are students. Although, my family’s economic situation has not been optimistic, however my parents always tell me “Life can be changed through education”, so I study hard in school and try hard on everything in order to reach my goal.

 Education
When I studied in junior high school, I found out that I was deeply into languages, so I applied Wenzao with the encouragement of my family. Finally, I entered the school as the number one with my indigenous identity. I have never gone to cram school, but under my persistence the ranking of semester average has been promoting as 40 percent. After I graduated from Wenzao five-year junior college, I applied to Wenzao two-year college, and still choose to study English as the major. Because I hope someday I can be an exchange student or have an internship in English- speaking countries. Over these years, the diverse curricula in Wenzao have established the foundations of my English ability. Therefore, I want to put into practice in living, and I believe going abroad is not only a best opportunity to improve my English, but also to broaden my horizon.

 Experience about Extracurricular Activities
Besides enriching my knowledge in studies, I have participated in many extracurricular activities, so I have a lot of experiences that other people do not have. Every year when the winter and summer vacation is coming, I will go back to my hometown to teach English in an elementary school in order to contribute to my hometown. In my second year of junior college, I took the duty as the president of “Indigenous of New Generation” club. At that period, I led our club to won Cum Laude in the Club Evaluation. Moreover, during the spare time I used to participate in many international events, also be the translator or receptionist. Due to these wonderful experiences, I am not only learn a lot of professional skills, but also enrich my life experience.

 Personalities
After graduating from the junior high school, I moved to Kaohsiung alone to study five-year junior college in Wenzao. Therefore, this experience trained me to be an independent person. In addition, I handle stress well. I do not feel anxious when I am busy with both studies and extracurricular activities. I think these two personalities can help me adapt to the new environment well when studying or working abroad.
