The Love and Hate Relationship between Translators/Interpreter and Technology

In an era when many jobs are expected to be replaced by robots or artificial intelligence, translators and interpreters, or T&I professionals are facing a dilemma. On the one hand, they need to embrace the change by using technology, such as computer-assisted translation software and translation memory to speed up their translation speed and reduce errors. On the other hand, they also need to fight against the fear that one day they may be replaced by machines or artificial intelligence. This study aims to explore T&I professionals’ view about technology by examining their blogs. The findings of this study may help us understand these professionals’ strategies in coping with the changes and their opinions about the possibility of being replaced.
