氣候調適科學通識課程之設計理念
General Education Course Design in Climate Change Adaptation

摘 要
自然因素及人為活動干擾,已使全球暖化、異常氣候與氣候變遷問題受到重視並成為熱門議題。氣候變遷觀念,已由專業問題轉變為通識議題(須知之常識),繼社會、經濟及政治問題後,氣候將成為另一主要影響人生發展之重要因素,利用氣候調適科學通識課程之學習與推廣,將成為大專院校通識教育必備之學習途徑。自人類演化至今,氣候一直扮演決定人類發展的重要角色,從描述地球歷史的地質時代(影響氣候的長期因素),到人類演化出的史前時代(影響氣候的中期因素),及後來文字發明的歷史時代(影響氣候的短期因素),到週期只有2-7年的聖嬰現象,不同時間範圍的氣候影響因素,都扮演改變地球環境,進而影響生物及人類的重要角色,但對氣候影響的了解卻極缺乏。自從工業革命後,人類燃燒石化燃料,造成溫室氣體,尤其是二氧化碳的增加,而引起了全球暖化問題,使氣候變遷更快速且頻繁。雖然人為影響比例還在爭議,但最近科學家(IPCC)已證明人為因素是造成全球暖化的主因,異常氣候也將成為未來的常態。永續發展及氣候變遷調適,將成為人類延長生存於現階段地球的主要生活常識之一,因此氣候調適相關通識課程之開設及推廣有其必要性。

The causes of Earth's climate system are varieties and complicated. Both natural and human factors can change Earth's climate. In modern world, extreme weather and climate change events pose a serious threat to the health and welfare of global families and businesses. The knowledge about climate will change from professional learning to general concept. Earth's climate system can play an important role on creature evolution and even to human history and development, but these general concepts about climate are lack in world people. Recently, climate change is getting worse by the global warming problem (the major factor is the use of fossil fuels). Sustainable development and adaptation concept (Reducing the Threat of Climate Change and Preparing for its Impacts) are more important in the near future. Therefore, the mission of General Education Center of university education system is to promote courses related to climate change and activities and to assist in educating our students as a whole person, a person who is balanced in body, mind, and spirit. The development and courses in the Center are necessary and important.
