This study examines factors that leadas to positive student outcome in online learning. The three factors explored in this study are instructor skills, course design, and learner characteristics. A questionnaire was administered to online students at the end of their course. It was found that instructor skills and learner characteristics are significantly related to student outcome. It was concluded that in order for successful learning outcome, online instructors should ready themselves with knowledge in online pedagogy such as course management and establishing a presence. Learners should be mature and self-motivated in order to complete the course successfully.
