Abstract:

Service is one of the pedagogical philosophies of Wenzao, and it has been implemented via English camp organized by the students from the Department of Foreign Language Instruction (DFLI). Other than educating what service means to college students at Wenzao, English camp is also a good program to inspire or to motivate the elementary students from remote areas to continue learning English. In addition, it helps appren-tice-teachers apply theories learned previously to the real classroom practice via a series of activities. This study, thus, aims to evaluate the design of the camp programs using the proposals recommended by Ligthbown and Spada (2006) for classroom teaching in order to provide some suggestions to apprentice-teachers and teachers from the elementary schools to design activities that should promote or motivate second language learning.
