[英文摘要] :
Although many factors have been investigated regarding how they affect one’s attitude toward using e-books in previous studies, a reader’s reading attitude in an e-book environment is hardly considered. Since a positive reading attitude is one of the conditions that promote a love of reading, the question, this study attempts to explore 1) the reading attitudes of Taiwanese undergraduate students’ in an e-book environment when reading in L1, Mandarin Chinese, and in L2, English; and 2) the components that are able to explain the L2 e-book reading attitudes. Data were collected using questionnaires from 212 undergraduate students. The results showed that the students demonstrated a slightly more positive e-book reading attitude in L2 than in L1. In addition, two significant predictors that may influence one’s e-book reading attitude in L2 were (a) e-book reading attitude in L1, and (b) hardcopy-book reading attitude in L2. The results indicate that a reader’s L1 e-book reading attitude can be transferred to a L2 context. Moreover, a reader’s second language proficiency plays a more influential role than his or her L1 hardcopy reading attitude in explaining one’s L2 e-book reading attitude.
