[摘要] :
談到《紅樓夢》的藝術成就,就不能忽略《紅樓夢》的人物對話。根據相關統計(李治翰2001: 158-159),《紅樓夢》書中塑造的人物至少近四百人,而且每個人物的語言色彩鮮明,形象栩栩如生,擺脫「千部一腔,千人一面」的俗套。本文藉由觀察人物對話,探討影響人物說話方式的因素或策略。除了前言與結語之外,本文組織如下:第一節介紹理論背景,第二節回顧前人的相關研究。在第三節,我們透過《紅樓夢》的人物對話來討論談話對象、權力與年齡、solidarity及教育程度等因素,如何影響人們的說話方式。第四節針對《紅樓夢》第六十八回,分析王熙鳳如何運用策略達成positive politeness,成功地把尤二姐騙入大觀園。《紅樓夢》的版本差異不在本文的討論範圍內,謹此註明語料源自於里仁書局《紅樓夢校注》。

The contribution of character dialogue cannot be understated when discussing the artistic achievements of Dream of the Red Chamber. According to relevant statistics (Lee 2001: 158–159), Dream of the Red Chamber features at least 400 characters, each of whom is described with vivid language and imagery. The novel is free from the danger faced by all books, namely that of repeating itself and all characters sounding the same. This study examined character dialogues in Dream of the Red Chamber and discussed the factors or strategies affecting how people talk. The remainder of this paper is organized as follows: Section 1 introduces the theoretical background, and Section 2 reviews relevant studies. Section 3 examines character dialogues in Dream of the Red Chamber and discusses how factors such as dialogue participants, power, age, solidarity, and education level affect how people talk. Section 4 examines Chapter 68 of Dream of the Red Chamber, analyzing how Phonix (Wang Xi-feng 王熙鳳) strategically achieved positive politeness, thus successfully luring You Er-jie to the Da-guan-yuan. The differences in versions of Dream of the Red Chamber are not within the scope of this study’s discussion. The corpus used in this study is Annotated Dreams of the Red Chamber published by Lijen Bookstore.
