My Three-month Life in Wenzao
So far I have been studied in Wenzao for three months
I have some reflection and thought that I want to express in this article
Tracing back to summer vacation, I was admitted to enter Wenzao
I was really delighted because I was able to depart from my former school, Shih-Chen(實踐大學)
But my parents disapproved my choice of transferring to Wenzao, my father in particular
They thought that I have studied in Shih-Chen for two years, and they hoped that I keep studying there
Actually, the main reason was that I have to be degraded for one year and to be a sophomore again if I choose to register to Wenzao
They thought it wastes a lot of time and money and it is unnecessary to study in college for five years
Another reason is that I majored in business English and foreign literatures when I was in Shih-Chen
In other words, I had never studied in anything about teaching when I was in Shih-Chen(I was a student in Department of Applied English Language)
They worried that I can't handle some curriculums about teaching once I enter Department of Foreign Language Instruction
For this two reasons, they disagreed me to transfer to Wenzao
However, I ignored their thought and opposition and I insisted on my decision
Although I argued with them many times, I still guaranteed to them that I will work harder and endure all the hardship that I might encounter
On September 13th, it was school opening day and I walked to Wenzao alone, and I was full of expectation but anxiety
As I entered classroom, some of my classmates gazed at me with curiousity
I was unfamiliar with all of them and I was anxious
And then I saw my class instructor, Yupin Chen(陳郁彬) entering classroom
He is a linguistics instructor and I could really perceive that he is a great teacher
On Monday night, when I was filling up my bottle with water in dormitory
The security requested me to help him because there were two foreign female students and they asked him for help about internet problem
They are Belgian and they can only speak English
They wanted a cable and correct ID number and passwords to connect internet , but they didn't know how to express their need in Chinese
The security couldn't speak English, too
Therefore, there was an obstacle between their communication
For these reasons, I became a translator and I translated what they said into Chinese to make the security understand their need
And then I translated what the security answered into English to make them comprehend all the situation
Luckily, their problem was solved
They really appreciated me and sent me a bottle of cola
To me, it was really a special and memorable experience because I have never been a translator without others' assistance
Even though my English was not too terrific, I was still a hero in the two Belgian girls' mind
In conclusion, my first day in Wenzao and Kaohsiung was filled with surprise, curiousity and stress
During the first three weeks in Wenzao, I was lonely and quiet because I didn't know anybody's name in my class
What I can do is to endure my sense of loneliness
Fortunately, one of my friend, Irene invited me to join Little Lamb Fellowship(牧小羊社)
In the fellowship, I made a lot of friends like Boris, Justin, Charmy and so on
They were all concerned about me and gave me some advice and suggestions
I really appreciated Boris that he gave me a ride to hospital when I was sick
Without his help, I was unable to recover soon
Being a member of Little Lamb Fellowship, I feel happy and I really cherich the happiness and joyfulness
On October 17th, my school held a school carnival and I was enjoyable and excited at that day
My class kept a stall and I became closer to my classmates by cooperating with them
I remembered that there were a lot of people participating in the school carnival
I really enjoyed being a vendor during the school carnival even if I was exhausted after school carnival
Moreover, I am impressed by some teachers, such as Alec and Szu-An
Their teaching methods are special and unique and their teaching materials really motivate me to learn Teaching&Technology and SLA
I really appreciate their effort and devotion to students
Except them, I also appreciate my French teacher
She is a nice teacher and she interests me in learning French
She often encourages students and she gives us the best learning quality
I never feel boring in her class
I really love my French class now and I extremely expect to attend in the class every Tuesday and Thursday
Last but not least, I make friend with Rick, Sledge, Uri, Terry and David(炯霖) now
They are so friendly and sincere and now I can easily get along with them
Also, I get rid of some of my bad habits after I transfer to Wenzao and I gradually forget the sadness and sorrow in the past
I try to hold a positive attitude toward everything now
I try to become maturer now
Hopefully the rest of days in Wenzao is wonderful and unforgettable
And hopefully all of the UL2A students learn everything smoothly and be happy everyday
