Abstract
In these days, Pier-2 has transferred into a fantastic traveling spot with a variety of the artworks. It is hard to associate it to the abandoned port that is used to be. In recent years, research has revealed that the number of tourist had increased nearly 50 percent. In the graph online we can see that in 2012 the number of tourist was 2,450,000, and in 2013 it has increase to 3,230,000. Such a large percentage made us surprised and have urge to investigating into this place. As a result, we started our research to find out the reason about this kind of increasing number and hoped the result of this essay can made our public space become better and figured out how we can catch the main point to the core of future public space building ideas.

Intorduction
There is no knowing that Pier-2 is famous for its exhibitions. Since cultural affairs bureau took it over, Pier-2 has become a place for them to hold arts festivals, theatrical troupes, concerts, and exhibitions about literature and art. In 2010, Sony interactive Entertainment set up a digital industry center tfor the research about games and its tests. What’s more, in89 Pier-2 theather opened in 2016 January. It made Pier-2 become a more multifunctional place and also made itself become more popular than before.
For the recently increasing number of tourists, sponsors had expanded the warehouses in Pier-2 to provide more space to accommodate the extra crowds.Nowadays, it is usual that people always go there for taking pictures with artworks there, going for a walk, picnicing, joining activities, and walking their dogs. It is easy to find that Pier-2 is a public space that has more fuctions than others in Kaohsiung.
Motivates
Why Pier-2 becomes one of public space that cannot be took place by others. In order to get the answer, we decided to do a field research for Pier-2 and our investigating and analyzing will be presented in this essay to help us get the reasons about these questions.

in order to go through well in our essay, we had palnned a series of steps. And all the steps will be presented as follows.

The activities that people engage in Pier-2
In this chart,we can find that most people like to take a walk and join exhibitions held by Pier-2. However, when we did a fleid research, we discovered that there are food courts nearby, but few of them know about this information. Lots of people take photos there and chat. Although Pier-2 is famous for its special fairs that sells handicarfts. But only 8% of crowds would like to buy.
As a result, in order to make Pier-2 more outstanding and improve its unique functions, we believe that sponsors should put more emphasize on their fairs and the sign about its food court information.
The areas for improvement about Pier-2
For knowing the disadventages about this public space, we had done a survey to find the reason. In this chart, it reveals that lots of people are not satisfied with the number of shelters in Pier-2. As we know, Kaohsiung is a high-temperature place, therefore, governments should set up more shelters surrounding the artworks. In out opinions, if the shelter can also be a kind of artworks, it will become an attractive point for people to come. Additionally, we find that the traffic flows of visiting is also a problem in Pier-2. First, there is no obvious sign in Pier-2, so people usually look for the path for themselves, which means that they may lose some artworks or good design in Pier-2. What’s more,because the traffic flows about its trolley can be a place for passengers to sit and take a rest, so it also makes tourists feel inconvienient. The staffs also have to tell passengers who sit there to be careful for the coming trolley, and it also waste the cost of the salary. Futhermore, the completeness of facilities also needs to be improved. We can find that there are few parking space for tourists and the toilet also give a messy impression on people. Besides, there are some sharp stones and cigarette butts on the ground, which can make people got hurt or make environment be polluted. In this case, we believe it is nessesary for government to figure out how to rebuild and make new shelters which can combine with its artworks.
The factors that attract people to come
We should know that public space is a place that makes people feel comfortable and relaxed. Therefore, if we can understand what are the things that people actually want and need, we will have more aspirations to come. Therefore, we investigated and got the answers. In this chart, we can know that people are interested in the exhibitions from time to time. As a result, government themselves can do a research to know which type of the exhibitions they like the most, so Pier-2 can become a better place for people to have much more desire to come. Moreover, the atmosphere and the scene are also the points that people care about. If a place is in a well atmosphere, people will become more enjoyable and also in good mood. Because of the crowds, buildings, and the busy lifestyle, most of people today are under a lot of pressure. Thus, when people go out, what they really want is a greenery place to let them feel peaceful and stress out. In this situation, people may want a scene without signboards and can let them get closer to the nature. We can say that Pier-2 is already a place that have greenery and a degree of comfort. So, if we do the tips we talked before, we believe that Pier-2 can become a part of their daily life and let them easily find their own seat there, these will become the reasons to make people to stay in a city and feel it like a home.
