I am Haidee Zheng, an amiable 20-year-old girl. From an open-minded family, I was born in Kaohsiung. I am a junior now in Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, major in English and minor in Korean and Spanish. Influenced by my mother, I was trained to be persistent, independent, and idealistic. I always get along with others well such as my teachers, classmates, and colleagues; moreover, in most of their eyes, I am a kind-hearted, thoughtful, and pure girl.
While becoming a freshman in Wenzao, I wished that I can not only maintain high level of academic performance but also try new things each year to enrich my college life; yet I did it. First year, I joined the swimming club. As I have drowned for several times since I was little, I was extremely hydrophobic. Although after the swimming lessons I still could not swim well, I overcame my real fear of soaking in water. Second year, I joined the New Jazz dancing club. Though it has been around ten years not dancing, I still had great passion for it. I enjoyed learning from those girls who were younger than me but had greater basic in dancing; I was not embarrassed at asking for their instructions because I thirsted to dance as marvelously as them did. Through these experiences, I successfully challenged myself so far and made my life more distinctive.
Besides my college life, I also tried hard to improve myself by taking part-time jobs. Taiwan’s famous tea chain store, 50嵐, is my first workplace. As our store is famous for our sincere service attitude, I learned lots of manners in serving customers. What’s more, I won the third place of 50嵐 Kaohsiung personal ordering staff! Serving people and seeing their satisfied faces are the best things to me. I also went to work exchange this winter vacation at a Taipei hostel. This job not only made me more independent but trained me to work as efficiently as possible. With these experiences, I know that I really like to serve people and learn from work.
As for my future perspective, I want to be a flight attendant. Being a flight attendant has been my dream since I was little, and in these years I have been trying hard to pursue this dream. I searched the information of cabin crew recruitment every year, and reached the requirements continuously. I enriched myself by various experiences to make myself more competent, capable, and suitable for this challenging job. I believe if there is a goal, there is a way; I wish I can keep learning from everything and realize this dream.
Since I am going to graduate next year, I sincerely thirst to enrich myself to be more competitive in this society. I wish I can jump out my comfort zone and become stronger not only intellectually but mentally, socially by exchanging to America. Sometimes people said, ‘If you want to know a culture, you can work overseas after you graduate’; nevertheless, I think as being a student, I can try more things, learn more things, and fail more things to reach this goal. I can have pure conversations and more activities to know the cultural better than being as a worker. Moreover, I wish I can build a friendly relationship between our schools as being an exchange student.
Before exchange, I will search the information and regulations of the school and try to thoroughly know the important manners and cultural of America. Moreover, I will seize the opportunities to practice my English listening and speaking through having communications with teachers and classmates.
During exchange, I plan to take lessons which are related to American culture and international seminar. As my senior has shared, in American Cultural, teachers will arrange field trips every week which makes students become more familiar with their culture through the experiences; as for International Seminar, students can train themselves to develop independent and critical thinking. I think these kinds of lessons is not only interesting but challenging, and I can learn the lessons more rapidly. In addition, I plan to join clubs, participate in more extracurricular activities, and take trips with friends to create more memories and broaden my horizon in America.
After exchange, I plan to take English proficiency tests to see the progress of studying in America, share the experiences to the juniors, and embark on finding practical training opportunities. If I have other chances, I will also try to participate in some events such as international volunteer and overseas education fairs to apply my knowledge, contribute to not only Wenzao but also the society.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing in support of Yong-Hsin Haidee Zheng’s application for the exchange program. I have been Young-Hsin’s advisor for two and a half years, and she took my course Approaches to Literary Works in her first year at Wenzao and English Advanced Writing in the second year. Young-Hsin has been a good student, and she has been a loyal, friendly friend to her classmates.
When people first meet Yong-Hsin, they are sometimes fooled by her delicate looks and feminine demeanor and tend to think that she needs to be pampered and protected. Knowing Young-Hsin better, they will be surprised by how courageous, adventurous and outspoken she is. She tries hard to find out what she really wants and what she can do. She has been an avid learner in English, and she copes well with all the subjects. As most of the courses designed in the Department of English at Wenzao demand group work, she shows that she can cooperate with other classmates to accomplish team projects, while she is also competent in operating on her own. As stated in her CV, she participated in several different extracurricular activities. Although she proclaimed herself to be a humble learner and beginner, she actually practiced hard all the skills she newly acquires to increase her capability. She also becomes outspoken when she is asked to give her opinions, and most thoughts she comes up with are the results of careful and in-depth analyses. As her advisor, I am highly impressed by her willingness to try various things, her adventurous spirit to venture into fields unfamiliar to her, and her candid opinions about herself and what happens around her.
Please consider accepting her application and have her as an exchange student. The chance you kindly offer her will help her to further build up her abilities and confidence she requires to develop her future career and realize her potential. Please do not hesitate to contact me at my email address 99043@mail.wzu.edu.tw or via the phone +886-7-342.6031 #5336, if you have any questions about her.
Sincerely Yours,
