from the utmost respect to children and adolescents with Gender Dysphoria, and searching for the truth, a rigorous research has been carried out that questions the current hormonal and surgical treatment of gender dysphoria in the pediatric field. This treatment consists of a hormonal and surgical therapeutic triad in adolescents. The protocol starts by delaying puberty from 10-12 years of age. Then, at age 16, cross-hormone therapy is continued to achieve the desired gender; and finally, at 18 years old, sex reassignment surgery is carried out. This protocol is defended and promoted by the main international medical organizations; and is implanted in pediatric practice as an effective solution to the problem of gender incongruence in children and adolescents.
Avoiding arguments of philosophical and theological nature, the work exposes exclusively solid scientific, medical and psychosocial arguments to refute the acclaimed efficacy and the scientific value of the therapeutic protocol in the pediatric field. These arguments meticulously show that this treatment lacks scientific evidence, presents medical risks for children and adolescents; moreover, it does not solve the problem of dysphoria.
