Book Report (Tuck Everlasting)

Tuck Everlasting
By Natalie Babbitt

Summery:
Everything is a wheel, always coming in new, growing and changing, and moving on, but except for the Tucks. They drank from a spring which was in the wood Fosters owned accidentally and never grew old since then. They kept it a secret because of knowing how terrible their never-ending trip was. However, young Winnie Foster met the Tucks by the spring one day, and they had to tell her the whole story. A stranger heard them and wanted to make money by means of the spring. Mae Tuck (the mother) killed him after knowing his plan and was sent to jail. Winnie helped Mae escape. The Tucks suggested Winnie to join their everlasting trip but she didn’t accept. At last, the spring caught fire by lightning and disappeared after Winnie’s dead, but the Tucks still went on with their eternal life.

Reflection:
Tuck, a character in the story said that dying was part of life. Surely, living forever in an imperfect world is not a good idea. Each person has his/her own anxiety today. Life may not be so enjoyable, especially if you do not belong to the human world like the Tucks. However, this is not Jehovah God’s will. Jehovah wants human to live forever in the Paradise Earth. In addition, He will make it come true in the future. With perfect body and mind, people can enjoy their everlasting life. They will not suffer from distress anymore. There won’t be boredom and anxiety because there will be so many things for people to do. The knowledge from the universe is unlimited. Thousands of skills and subjects waiting for people to learn. They will know the true meaning of life by their never ending expedition and their close friendship with God.
